Thursday 11th.

We are settling in and slowly beginning to get our heads around the tale of two cities that is Rivera and Livramento. Earlier in the week we had tours of them both with Vera from Corticeiras Guias de Tourismo and for the first time since arriving were able to see quite how the stark the differences are. The market place above the main square was perhaps were this difference manifested itself the strongest  with the Uruguayan bancas ordered and numbered whilst the Brazilian market side sprawled out in a much more haphazard way.

We have been warmly welcomed in by everyone we have met so far. Lots of people came along to our opening ceremony at the Cultural Institute and it was extremely moving to see how positive everyone is about our presence here.
